| Why is this important? | A positive culture and environment are essential for schools because they foster student engagement, academic success, and overall well-being for both students and staff. When schools cultivate a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn, leading to higher achievement and improved behavior. A strong school culture also encourages collaboration among teachers, staff, and families, creating a sense of community and shared responsibility for student success. |
| Action steps related to the priority | Fall/Spring 2025 *District Wide training on Capturing Kids’ Hearts. *Well developed PBIS system at the elementary school. *District Cell Phone guidelines restricting cell phone usage. BES- *Expand the Student Advisory and Leadership Team to meet weekly, increasing student voice and providing more consistent opportunities for students to contribute to identified schoolwide needs and initiatives. *Strengthen attendance accountability by increasing proactive communication and follow-up with families, clarifying expectations, and regularly publicizing schoolwide attendance goals and progress. BMS- *Academic Excellence Center was developed to increase student achievement and accountability. *Implement short-term motivational incentives and academic competitions to promote student engagement and a positive mindset toward learning. BHS- *Academic Excellence Center was developed to increase student achievement and accountability. *Implementation of Cougar Parking Pass systems to develop, promote and govern safe driving practices. *Increased parental contacts based upon discipline, attendance and academic issues. *Lunch detention every Tuesday and Thursday for students exceeding the attendance/tardy threshold. *Implementation of Triton Sensors in main bathrooms to detect cell phone usage, bathroom crowding and banned substances. *Adherence to SecurlyPass systems for student tracking and spatial accountability. |
